Our Story

How it all started...

St Mark's Missionary Baptist Church was established in 1952 by Rev. Monroe Haynes, Jr. as Pastor.  At this time he had one Deacon Christopher, and 20 members. The church was originally  located on the corner of Wheatley and West Montgomery. One year later the church was blessed to purchase property for their new location at 1920 Mansfield St.  The ministry continued to flourish and grow with members to continue to serve God. In 1977, Rev. Haynes resigned as pastor.

Expanding the vision...

After the resignation of Pastor Haynes St. Mark's was blessed with a Spirit Filled Man and on Fire for God, Rev. T.T. Williams.
During this time St. Mark grew tremendously in membership.
Under the leadership of Pastor Williams, the structure of the physical church began to grow from a small wood frame to structure to what we currently worship in. In August of 2003, Rev. Williams heard the voice of his master calling him home "Well done thy good and faithful servant." Your works here have been completed and you have served me well.  In the year 2004 the members voted and appointed Rev Curtis Clark as the new pastor. He served until the later part of 2007.
